Start Here Partner Receives $3 Million Transformational Grant from W.K. Kellogg Foundation

The W.K. Kellogg Foundation recently announced a transformational $3.1 million, three-year grant to the William Winter Institute for Racial Reconciliation, a longtime Start Here Project Development partner. With the increased financial support, the Winter Institute will augment its staff, establish an academic component to complement its community and youth work, and expand its programmatic reach beyond Mississippi.

Dr. Susan Glisson, Winter Institute executive director: “Start Here’s efforts have helped to transform the Winter Institute. They’ve helped us raise more than $3.5 million. Programs we’ve developed with partner communities and with Start Here now touch thousands of people. None of this would have been possible without their commitment to us and the commitment we share to ending all discrimination based on difference.”

Glisson added that the Winter Institute’s partnership with Start Here had grown, with Start Here now managing the Winter Institute’s expanded development and marketing/communications: “We remain thrilled by the results of our partnership with Start Here.”
